his bid for re-election as attorney general of ohio. there he was a credit of big banks in general and mass foreclosures, and he had a winning streak on a game show. what is the consumer financial protection bureau? it aims to put a stop to predatory lending. it will keep an eye on credit card fees and student loans and keep an ear on consumer complaints. because a whole lot of centers don't like the bureau, the confirmation could be, dare i say, in jeopardy. dan, tell us first why this nomination is not going to elizabeth warren? >> reporter: well, certainly the white house saw her as somebody that could set up the agency and had hoped that she was the person who could potentially lead the agency, but as you pointed out this was somebody who was controversial and ran up against conservatives that would not support her nomination. and one official telling me republicans in congress made clear that they don't support the agency, and they would block all efforts to confirm elizabeth warren as the permanent director. while she was somebody that essentially invented this agency, got it

. they do, however, believe she's no longer in central florida. when she left the jail, you saw the big crowds there. there were people yelling "killer" in that crowd as she got into the suv and left. there is a great deal of emotion still unresolved around this case. we saw a lot of people getting together who were doing something peaceful with those emotions over the weekend. they went to the site where caylee anthony's body was discovered and held a march from that site to the anthony home. all to remember the child whose death started all of this. it was a very solemn occasion. a lot of people walking in the street. at one point it was reported there were cars lined up on the road about a half mile long of people just parking on the roadside going into those woods where her body was discovered to go to that spot and remember that little girl. again, a great deal of emotion. people trying to process all of this on their own. but casey anthony at the moment is still staying out of the public eye even though she has a lot of legal entanglements she will still have to address in the mon

the arrest of rebekah brooks. she's out on bail right now, but her arrest over the weekend a big surprise. >> reporter: yeah. i mean, she was -- the length that she was detained for was incredible as well. 12 hours she spent -- more than 12 hours in a police station in london answering questions, and she wasle only released around midnight last night local time. so that was a huge development in this. she's out on police bail now, but that doesn't mean she's excused from appearing before a committee of mps tomorrow london time. she's still going to turn up and be careful about what she says, and the politicians are going to have to be careful about what they ask her as well. there could be a trial down the track if she's charged, and therefore they're going to make sure under the rules here that they don't sort of prejudice any forthcoming trial. nevertheless i think she's going to get a pretty tough interrogation at the hands of politicians as will her former bosses rupert and james murdoch who appear now separately from her before the same committee tomorrow afternoon. >> dan, let me as

-- none of your business. a big buzz about a gall up poll showing that president obama would be defeated by a generic republican by 8 points and leads any of the spectacular candidates that he is paired against. what does this mean? franklyy absolutely nothing. a poll in this point in time is where they are today and not in 15 months. voters will automatically vote democrat and some automatically vote republican. the election is going to be decided by independent voters in the middle, and they are a long way from making up their mines on the next election. they are struggling whether or not they are having a next paycheck. while i enjoy a good game of politics as much as the next guy, there is a time to campaign and then there is a time to govern. president and members of congress from both parties have had their fun politicing the debt ceiling and now time to govern and resolve it. i don't think the world will face armageddon over failure to set the debt limit. there would be affects. you wouldn't be able to visit the national parks and coon get a passport and airport lines for tsa coul
